Retaining Wall Construction

Retaining Wall Construction Across Kitsap County

Half the yards on this peninsula sit on a slope. A retaining wall turns ground you cannot use into ground you can — a level lawn, a flat pad for a patio, a garden bed that stays where you put it when the rain comes.

We build walls that do the structural job and still look like they belong in the yard, not like an afterthought bolted onto the hillside.

What we build

  • Segmental block retaining walls
  • Natural stone and boulder walls
  • Terraced walls where one tall wall would be wrong for the site
  • Seat-height garden and planter walls
  • Clean drainage rock and a drain line behind every wall
  • Geogrid reinforcement where the height and the load call for it
  • Caps, corners and steps built into the wall

How it goes

  1. We look at the slope, what is above it and what is below it, and where the water goes now.
  2. We tell you what the wall actually needs to be — height, materials, and whether it should be one wall or two terraces.
  3. You get a written estimate before anything starts.
  4. We dig the footing, set a compacted base, and build up course by course with backfill and drainage going in as we go.
  5. Caps go on, the grade behind is finished, and we clean up and haul off.

Walls fail because of water, not blocks

A retaining wall almost never fails because the block was not strong enough. It fails because water builds up in the soil behind it and pushes until something gives. Every wall we build gets clean drainage rock and a drain line behind it so the water has somewhere to go besides into your wall.

Where we work

We are based in Bremerton and cover Kitsap County and the water around it: Bainbridge Island, Puget Sound, Bremerton, Poulsbo, Port Orchard, Hood Canal, Silverdale, Port Gamble, Kingston, Seabeck, Suquamish, Hansville, Olalla, Keyport, Indianola, Bangor Base, Illahee, Gorst, Manchester, Tracyton, Burley, Belfair and Vashon Island. Do not see your town? Call anyway — if you are close to that list, we can usually get to you.

Got a slope that is sliding, washing out, or just wasting half your yard? We will come look at it and tell you what it needs.
