Lawn Aeration
Lawn Aeration in Kitsap County
If your lawn yellows in patches, if water sits on top instead of soaking in, or if the grass just will not thicken up no matter what you put on it, the problem is usually below the surface. Soil gets packed down over the years and the roots stop getting air and water.
Core aeration pulls plugs of soil out of the lawn and opens it back up. Water, air and fertilizer get down to the roots instead of running off the top.
What is included
- Core aeration that pulls real plugs of soil, not just pokes holes
- Plugs left on the lawn to break down on their own
- Sprinkler heads and shallow lines marked before we start
- Front yard, back yard, or both
- A straight answer on whether your lawn actually needs it this year
How it goes
- Tell us the address and roughly how big the lawn is.
- We look at the grass and the soil and tell you whether aerating now will help or whether you should wait for a better time of year.
- We mark the sprinkler heads and anything shallow so nothing gets chewed up.
- We run the aerator across the lawn and leave the plugs to break down.
- You water it in, and it is a good moment to seed or feed, because for once it will reach the soil.
Spikes are not aeration
Strap-on spike shoes and rolling spikers push the soil sideways and pack it tighter than it already was. Core aeration removes soil instead of compressing it. That is the difference between doing something and doing nothing.
